13 million covered lives. The PDP is a 'point-of-service' PPO that takes a managed-care
approach to dental plans. Employer and employee costs are reduced through a nationwide
network of over 44,000 participating dentists, who agree to accept negotiated
fees that are generally 10-30% below "community averages" as payment-in-full.
Since the PDP is not a dental HMO, there are no employee lock-ins or specialist
referrals. Employees have access to the dentist of their choice, in or out-of-network,
at the time of service. MetLife's
